The Restoration Project of the Southwest Sector of the Nogal – La Selva Local Biological Corridor, developed in conjunction with Chiquita Brands International, aims to promote the ecological restoration of areas in strategic zones of the biological corridor. This initiative seeks to improve connectivity between forest fragments and recover landscape cover.
The project activities include the planting and maintenance of forest species on private farms, which is developed under the reforestation standard guidelines of Preferred by Nature.
Nature, which establishes criteria to ensure that activities are carried out in an environmentally, socially, and technically responsible manner. This ensures the quality of the interventions and their effective contribution to landscape restoration. These actions strengthen the structural connectivity of the landscape within the biological corridor.
In this context, FUNDECOR participates as the verifying entity for economic disbursements to owners, ensuring that payments are made according to the guidelines established in the contract. In this
way, it contributes to transparency in resource management and the fulfillment of project objectives within the Nogal-La Selva Biological Corridor.
Based on this experience, the development of new phases is projected to expand the model's scope to other territories and actors interested in restoration processes.
