At FUNDECOR, we conceive environmental education as a tool to promote reflection, ethical values, and informed decision-making that contributes to the sustainability of the natural and cultural heritage of the Central Volcanic Mountain Range.
We were pioneers in the implementation of environmental educational tours in Costa Rica, with over 30 years of experience, serving more than 200 educational centers and 350,000 students. This legacy lives on through experiences where learning is experiential, meaningful, and directly connected to nature.
Our approach fosters a culture of sustainability by integrating knowledge of the natural, social, and economic environment, while providing tools to understand current environmental issues and the solutions being implemented at local, national, and international levels.

The My Positive Footprint Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program by FUNDECOR drives corporate environmental volunteering in Costa Rica, connecting companies with the conservation of natural resources. Through actions such as reforestation, river clean-ups, and ecosystem regeneration, it promotes corporate sustainability, responsible environmental management, and a stronger link between the private sector and the territory.

Guided experiences in natural ecosystems where participants explore, observe, and understand environmental processes in a real-world context. Academic content is reinforced in alignment with the MEP (Ministry of Public Education), addressing topics such as biodiversity, climate change, ecosystem services, and forest conservation.
Environmental Workshops:
Dynamic spaces that complement the field experience, promoting reflection and analysis of current environmental issues. Through participatory methodologies, topics such as waste management, water resources, and sustainability are addressed, encouraging the adoption of responsible practices.
EcoPuppets FUNDECOR:
Educational tool aimed at younger audiences, utilizing puppet theater to teach environmental and social values in an accessible and creative way. This component can be integrated as part of the experience, facilitating learning in early stages.

A day with the pioneers of private forest conservation in Costa Rica
Visiting the Sarapiquí area, we can learn firsthand how private forest conservation works, how the Payment for Environmental Services (PES) originated and what its purpose is, what a management plan and a reforestation plan are, how we monitor forests and what happens within them, how we are resilient to climate change, and how we adapt to natural events such as floods and others. Additionally, we can learn how people have managed to live in harmony with the forest and use its ecosystem services responsibly.

Through the My Positive Footprint program, FUNDECOR promotes environmental volunteering activities that connect companies with conservation.
Since 2023, there have been:
– Planted more than 5,000 native trees.
– Collected more than 3.5 tons of solid waste during river and beach cleanups.
– Neutralized the footprint of more than 200 tourists, establishing a historic milestone in responsible tourism.
Activities
Space Intervention:
Environmental Mural Creation: backed by the experience of creating over 350 murals nationwide and being the founders of interscholastic mural competitions. We also design gardens, vegetable patches, composting systems, and sustainable green areas for communities and institutions.
Reforestation and Assisted Forest Regeneration:
Corporate workdays to restore degraded areas, protect water springs, and strengthen biological corridors. Our methodology goes beyond planting a tree; we explain the importance of forests and the natural resources we obtain from them; additionally, we provide everything necessary for planting.
River and Beach Cleanups:
Collective actions that promote environmental awareness and responsible solid waste management. We focus on explaining the importance of water resources, where we address topics such as water availability on the planet and in Costa Rica; we not only contribute to the watershed or beach, but we create environmental awareness and generate new habits in the participants.
Corporate Support:
A program to provide guidance for Blue Flag (Bandera Azul) certifications for companies, including impact monitoring, footprint measurement, and recognition for their contribution to sustainability.
