FUNDECOR leads the first initiative in the country's history to neutralize the water footprint of tourism, a model that since 2024 has already reached more than 300 responsible travelers.

An Unprecedented Achievement
What began as an ambitious vision at FUNDECOR is now a reality transforming the industry. For the first time, we have successfully and completely neutralized the water footprint of an international delegation during their stay in the country. This milestone was made possible thanks to a group of 18 Canadian tourists from the company CooperVision, who, during their 12-day stay in Costa Rica, decided through our strategic partner ST Costa Rica to ensure their journey through our land left a positive blue footprint.

Science and technology in the service of water. From that first group to the more than 300 tourists who have gone through the program since 2024, the operation is built on a unique technical rigor.

Total compensation: In the case of the CooperVision group, visitors covered the fee for a footprint of 2,100 cubic meters of water generated during their 12-day trip.

Technological transformation: Using cutting-edge technology developed by FUNDECOR, we translate those cubic meters into direct incentives for forest protection.

Local impact: The funds are transferred to CODECE, an organization that protects the forests essential for water recharge in local communities.

On-the-ground action: The commitment was comprehensive; the tourists also planted 100 native trees in strategic aquifer protection zones.

Costa Rica: A Privilege We Must Protect
This project protects the essence of our country. Costa Rica is one of the few destinations on the continent where organizations such as the CDC and GlobalHunters confirm that it is safe to drink water directly from the tap. With nearly 4 million annual tourists, the potential of this model is immense: turning every visitor into an active partner in our water wealth.

A New Era for Responsible Tourism
By demonstrating that it is possible to measure, mitigate, and compensate for travelers' water consumption throughout their entire stay, FUNDECOR offers a cutting-edge tool. Today, traveling to Costa Rica means ensuring that the transparency and purity of our water is maintained for future generations.
