Promoting biodiversity and ecosystem services on farms within productive landscapes

Promoting biodiversity and ecosystem services on farms within productive landscapes

The promotion of biodiversity and ecosystem services on farms within the identified agricultural landscapes sought to improve ecological connectivity through pilot measures in productive landscapes located along connectivity routes in the Los Malecu Route Biological Corridor and the Río Parismina Biological Corridor.

The project applied the Agricultural Biodiversity Check (ABC) to several agro-industrial companies specializing in pineapple and banana exports, seeking to define the state of the art in biodiversity management by the firms. This was followed by the participatory definition of biodiversity-friendly actions (including producer involvement) and the respective monitoring of the implementation of these action plans.

Additionally, based on GIZ's efforts, SINAC and local stakeholders are promoting the implementation of best practices for biodiversity conservation along previously defined ecological connectivity routes in the Los Malecu Route Biological Corridor and the Río Parismina Biological Corridor.
