Water Resource Management
Since 2012, FUNDECOR has been working within the framework of water resource management and water security. As the Technical Secretariat of Agua Tica, the Foundation has driven the governance and implementation of the fund through an investment portfolio that technically and scientifically identifies the sites where strategic actions must be implemented to increase aquifer recharge, mitigate the impacts of climate change and natural disasters, and promote ecosystem services through these actions.
FUNDECOR is responsible for implementing all actions proposed by the Agua Tica Board of Directors in the field and executing projects related to water resources.
Design of governance, action plans, and the development and implementation of Water Funds:
FUNDECOR possesses all the know-how to design projects or initiatives similar to Agua Tica from scratch, both inside and outside our area of action.

Thanks to FUNDECOR's multidisciplinary team, technical proposals are designed for companies and public institutions that enable them to neutralize their water footprint and track the impact of their projects through field monitoring and periodic progress reports.
Biodiversity monitoring
Biodiversity monitoring
For over 35 years, it has been part of FUNDECOR's mission and vision to generate relevant and robust information that serves for land management. Over those years, systematic information has been collected on the growth of forests and forest plantations where FUNDECOR, in conjunction with client families, carries out sustainable actions such as management, protection, reforestation, and payment for ecosystem services. Furthermore, we have developed fauna monitoring actions, such as the use of camera traps and the monitoring of small rodents, beetles, and butterflies, among others.
Design of projects focused on monitoring:
For over 15 years, we have designed and implemented wildlife monitoring plans for various companies, analyzing and systematizing field data to report on the status of their natural areas.
Implementation of actions in Protected Wild Areas
For over 30 years, FUNDECOR has been an NGO with the objective of collaborating in the management of the country's Protected Wild Areas. It has done so through highly innovative initiatives, such as the Non-Essential Services Project in the ACCVC's Protected Wild Areas. Furthermore, it has collaborated in the execution of projects financed by the 2nd US-CR Debt-for-Nature Swap through the ACRXS, where projects have been implemented such as the national-level Control and Protection project, the "Development of ecological integrity monitoring protocols and monitoring plans for 32 Protected Wild Areas in Costa Rica" project, the development of the Climate Action Plan for the ACLAP, and the implementation of the Climate Action Plan and monitoring protocols for the ACLAP, among other high-level projects for the management and protection of our country's Protected Wild Areas.

Agua Tica Initiative
Agua Tica's innovation is based on the use of tools such as InVEST, RIOS, and WaterProof to identify ecosystem services and prioritize interventions across more than 6,000 hectares through nature-based solutions, maximizing the return on water investment. Through projects such as water replenishment for Coca-Cola, water restoration with INTEL, and "Agua Positiva" with FIFCO, hundreds of hectares of forest have been protected, generating significant annual water recharge volumes supported by robust environmental monitoring systems and community participation in 12 communities. Furthermore, Agua Tica drives financial innovation through initiatives such as a bank card that allocates funds to water protection and a tool to calculate and offset household water footprints, consolidating a comprehensive approach that combines environmental, social, and economic sustainability.
